History & Mission

Founded in 1976, Hovnanian School has proudly served the Armenian-American community for nearly five decades. The school’s vision is to nurture well-rounded leaders grounded in academic excellence and Armenian cultural identity. Hovnanian’s guiding philosophy—known as MEGA (Multi-lingual Emotional-Global Academic)—promotes emotional intelligence, multilingual fluency, and global citizenship as core pillars for student development.

Academic Model & Curriculum

• Grades Served: Preschool through 8th grade (Child Care Center to Toufayan Middle School)

• Language Instruction: Students learn Armenian, English, and French, fostering trilingual fluency from early childhood 

• Early Childhood Program: Hands-on, play-based learning begins at age 2, with a 6:1 ratio in early preschool for highly individualized attention 

• Instructional Approach: Utilizes cross-grade interaction, mentorship, and community-building strategies. A student-centered learning model emphasizes critical thinking, collaboration, and respect for each child’s unique growth path.

Faculty & Accreditation

• Accredited by both the Middle States Association and the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools, ensuring rigorous standards and recognition of student transcripts across institutions 

• Dedicated and caring faculty—ranging from longtime educators to newer staff—are committed to supporting students academically, emotionally, and culturally.
